Paris Hilton in Manila, loses iPads on the way
MANILA, Philippines - Celebrity socialite and hotel chain heiress Paris Hilton reportedly lost her two iPad tablets while on the plane on her way to the Philippines.
Hilton arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) around 10:40 p.m. Sunday on board Emirates Airways flight EK334 from the United States via Dubai for a five-day working visit.
Hilton, who disembarked last from the plane, spent some time at the arrival concourse and was attended to by some flight attendants and security escorts while searching for her two iPads, which she reportedly used on board, inside her shoulder bag.
The hotel heiress was left with only one cellular phone, which she used in taking shots of the crowd as she walked towards the immigration area escorted by Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel, airport police and her personal security.
She was brought to the VIP lounge at the customs arrival area where she stayed for almost 30 minutes discussing with the airline personnel and police escorts her missing iPads.
An airport source said Hilton reportedly lost her iPads while on board and not at the airport.
Gigie Baroa, country manager of Emirates Airways, said Hilton or any of her party did not file any report with regard to the loss of any property.
“A check by Emirates crew when the passengers disembarked showed that there were no items left behind by any of the passengers,” Baroa told The STAR.
Hilton was wearing a yellow blouse, blue jeans, gold-brown walking shoes and her signature brown shoulder bag.
She was also seen wearing a big gold ring with white gold and precious stones in her right middle finger.
Hilton put on her dark glasses while walking towards the media and posed to allow them to take pictures.
Her three female friends said the model will have a very busy visit to the country and if possible, plans to visit some well known beaches here like Boracay and Palawan.
Hilton is expected to pay courtesy calls on President Aquino and boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao.
Lawyer Franklin Gacal, Pacquiao’s chief of staff, said there was no word yet on whether the congressman would bring Hilton as his guest to the House of Representatives.
“I think Ms. Hilton would be taking care of her other businesses first before they will meet. They haven’t met but they have been communicating, through ‘BBM’,” Gacal told The STAR, referring to the text messaging system of users of Blackberry mobile phones.
Last May 2011, the first branch of Paris Hilton Handbags and Accessories opened at the Abreeza Mall in Davao City. This time, Hilton will open the Paris Hilton Beach Club in Manila.
Hilton will also make her only stop at the SM Megamall for the opening of the Paris Hilton Megamall shop on August 18. She will meet and greet shoppers at 4 p.m. at the Mega Atrium. Every purchase of a Paris Hilton bag will entitle a raffle coupon and a chance to meet and greet Paris Hilton at SM Megamall.
Hilton’s trend mixes the trendy looks of new celebrities with the old Hollywood styling she loves so much. In the new store, Hilton will present the latest collection of affordable luxury goods by her namesake collection of Handbags and Accessories.
“I love this collection; it’s one of our best ones so far. I was very inspired by old Hollywood glamour as well as the trends of new celebrities. For fall, I wanted a very luxurious and eye-catching collection so we used sequins, reflective materials and mixed it with faux fur, patent, faux ostrich and crocodile. For the toned down, everyday styles I chose shiny and appliqués. I love it so much,” she said. – Paolo Romero
