MANILA, Philippines - How relevant and responsible are today’s writers?
F. Sionil Jose will talk on this topic in a lecture-forum presented by The Philippine STAR Lifestyle Section and National Book Store today at 3 p.m. at the NBS, second floor of Rockwell’s Power Plant Mall as part of a month-long series launching The STAR’s 25th year celebration this year.
STAR editor-in-chief Isaac Belmonte and executive editor Ana Marie Pamintuan will lead the panel which includes PCGG head Andy Bautista, ABS-CBN broadcaster Korina Sanchez and lawyer-educator Adel Tamano.
In his works, Sionil depicts the social underpinnings of class struggle and colonialism in Philippine society. His works in English have been translated in 22 languages worldwide.
There will be a book signing by Sionil after the lecture-forum.
The event, which is co-sponsored by Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Max’s Chicken and Power Plant Mall, will be open to the public.
