Ayala Malls sweeps top ICSC, Quill awards
MANILA, Philippines – Ayala Malls, the shopping center group of Ayala Land, was the sole recipient of the most prestigious ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) Foundation Community Support Award while also garnering a gold for Marketing Excellence and five silver awards in the recently concluded ICSC Asia Shopping Centre Awards Competition in Beijing, China.
The highly coveted ICSC Foundation Community Support Award was given to the “Ondoy” campaign of Greenbelt, a program with the greatest humanitarian impact in the Asia-Pacific.
The campaign raised funds to build homes and assist families displaced by two devastating typhoons in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hour, and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
The ICSC Foundation donated $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity, Ayala Malls’ partner charity, to build more homes for Bahay ni Juan sa Calauan, a relocation project for Ondoy victims.
A gold award for Cause-Related Marketing was given to Alabang Town Center’s “A Chance to Share” campaign, a community outreach program for Manila’s street children.
Ayala Malls also garnered silver awards for the “A-List Wish List Promo” for Sales Promotions and Events, “Greenology” campaign for Public Relations, Greenbelt’s “Healing the Broken Spirits” campaign for Cause-Related Marketing, and Ayala Center Cebu’s “The Terraces” for Design and Innovation.
The awards were presented by William Taubman, chairman of ICSC, and Michael Kercheval, president and CEO of ICSC, to the Ayala Malls Group led by Ayala Land chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala; Marivic Añonuevo, SVP and Ayala Malls Group head; Rowena Tomeldan, VP and chief operating officer; Cora Dizon, VP and head of business development, together with Cathy Bengzon, senior division manager and head of marketing; Clavel Tongco, senior division manager and head of Ayala Malls VisMin; Joy Polloso, Ayala Center Cebu GM; Norie Raniel, Marquee deputy GM; Michelle Aliggayu, Ayala Malls department manager; Mita Montinola, Ayala Land senior architect; and Bong Dy, Ayala Center Cebu operations manager.

The ICSC Asia Shopping Centre Awards recognizes and honors the shopping industry’s most cutting-edge properties, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, as well as outstanding examples of design and development through its Global Awards Program.
The 2010 ICSC Asia Shopping Centre Awards recognizes outstanding achievements in marketing and design and development of retail properties throughout Asia.
Meanwhile, Ayala Malls again won accolades for its communications management programs in the recently concluded 2010 Philippine Quill Awards.
The Ayala Malls’ “U-First” campaign and Market! Market!’s “Recycling is in the Bag” received the coveted Award of Excellence.
Merit awards were given to Ayala Malls’ “Greenology” and Alabang Town Center’s “A Chance To Share” campaigns.
In winning the most number of awards in the ICSC Asia Shopping Centre Awards Competition and the Philippine Quill Awards, Ayala Malls makes its mark both as a global and local leader in marketing and design and innovation.
