MANILA, Philippines - If you intend to watch the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey in plazas and other open spaces, better bring protection against rain showers and thunderstorms expected to hit Metro Manila this afternoon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) yesterday said organizers of live broadcasts of the Pacquiao fight in open spaces should put up tents and fans should bring umbrellas and other gear to protect themselves from the rain.
But Pagasa weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio assured the public that the rains would only be light.
He said the temperature is expected to range between 24 and 34 degrees Celsius.
Pagasa said the rains are triggered by the diffused tail end of the cold front affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
As of 2 p.m. yesterday, a low-pressure area entered the Philippine area of responsibility. It was sighted at 960 kilometers east of southern Mindanao.
Pagasa said the eastern section of the Ilocos region will experience mostly cloudy skies with light rains, while Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon.
