OFWs can now send burgers

Imagine Jollibee meals delivered to your door as a gift from Tatay in Dubai.

That’s the beauty of virtual pasalubong: Jollibee Yum, Champ, palabok fiesta and peach mango pie delivered to you even if she’s a thousand miles away.

While it is customary for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), Fil-Ams and other Filipinos abroad to send money, they can now surprise their loved ones back home with their favorite Jollibee meals during special occasions with the collaboration of Banco de Oro (BDO) and fastfood giant Jollibee Foods Corp.

Sharing the vision of preserving the spirit of family togetherness, BDO and Jollibee launched Jollibee Padalang Langhap Sarap, the first remittance product of its kind, which will be made available initially to Filipinos in Metro Manila and greater Manila.

OFWs can now go to any BDO subsidiary office and international remittance partners in Europe, Asia, Middle East, United States and Canada, and choose from a variety of meal and party packages to be delivered to their families and relatives in the Philippines.

BDO and Jollibee aims to preserve strong ties between Filipinos and their families in the Philippines along with the bank’s commitment to deliver fast remittances.

“As BDO recognizes the hard work and sacrifices of our unsung heroes, it also aims to break the barrier of distance by preserving family tradition,” BDO said.

About eight million Filipinos are now working abroad based on the latest data from the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA).

BDO’s remittance approach is geared towards giving OFWs better banking experience.

Now merged with Equitable PCI, the bank is relying on the reputation and credibility of Equitable’s Express Padala with the forward-thinking character of BDO Remit.

BDO earlier launched Cash Pick-up Anywhere, which allows beneficiaries to claim their remittances in peso, dollars or SM gift pass from hundreds of BDO branches, SM Forex counters inside SM Department Stores, SM Hypermarkets, BDO onsite outlets and rural bank partners in the provinces.

The same convenience also applies to BDO Remit Cash Card, a re-loadable electronic card that works as a debit card and an automated teller machine card, which one can use to withdraw anytime at BDO, Expressnet and Megalink ATMs.

BDO also launched a remittance tracking system accessible through the BDO website wherein the remitter or the beneficiary can instantly check in real-time the status of their remittance from the time it is sent up to the time it is received.

BDO also formed BDO Asenso Kabayan to address the needs of the many OFWs who would want to avail of loan facilities and investment opportunities but don’t know where to go and how to go about it.

It also aims to encourage them to save and expand their earnings.
