MMDA paint job boosts aerial view
Chairman Bayani Fernando of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has shifted from pink fences to white rooftops.
He told The STAR he has asked homeowners around
“We started painting them last week based on (Press) Secretary (Ignacio) Bunye’s recommendation,” he said. “The project is being implemented by the MMDA free of charge.”
Fernando said private property owners in NAIA’s vicinity in
“These are private properties inside subdivisions,” he said.
The project is not expensive because the MMDA is using cement-based paint, he added.
Tirso Serrano, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) assistant general manager for airport development, lauded the MMDA for pursuing the project.
“It forms part of the concerted effort to make improvements everywhere and on everything,” he said.
Serrano said the MIAA is doing its part by focusing on improving the grounds around the airport.
“What we are trying to improve and pursue is the landscaping, the beautification of the NAIA complex in order to transform it into an even better airport than it is now,” he said.
“We have been doing a lot of work for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2,” he added.
The MIAA’s overall development plan has more in store since they are looking at other initiatives to improve traffic management and open new access roads, Serrano said.
