Call them the bathtub thieves.
Four men landed in jail for allegedly stealing a bathtub from a construction supply store in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
Police said Joel Quirong, 27, and Reynaldo Lamo, 22, both construction workers; Lucilo Basillo, 22, and Alberto Lamo, all of Sitio Bacood, Barangay Pasong Tamo are detained at the Central Police District-Criminal Investigation Unit (CPD-CIU) at Camp Karingal on robbery charges.
Investigation showed that the suspects entered the Wilcon Builders Co. on 117-A Macaya st., Barangay Pasong Tamo, through its iron fence at around 1 a.m. yesterday.
Once inside, the suspects took a cast-iron bathtub worth P30,000.
But as the four men were about to flee with the loot, members of the village patrol spotted them.
Suspicious of the four men carrying a bathtub during the wee hours, the barangay tanods approached and apprehended them.
The suspects were later turned over to the CPD-CIU, after it was discovered that the bathtub was indeed stolen from the construction store.
Police have yet to determine the motive for the theft, but surmised that the group might have planned to sell the item.
