POC sa PSC
MANILA, Philippines — Nanawagan ang Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) na ibigay na ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang cash incentives ng men’s curling team na nakasungkit ng gintong medalya sa 9th Asian Winter Games sa Harbin, China.
Mahigit 10 linggo na ang nakalilipas nang gumawa ng kasaysayan ang men’s curling team matapos maibulsa ang kauna-unahang gintong medalya ng Pilipinas sa Asian Winter Games.
Mismong si POC president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino na ang nanawagan para sa mabilisang aksyon ng PSC.
“Where are the incentives? This delay is hurting the momentum of our historic gold medal in curling in Harbin with strong consideration that the victory—a first by the country and any Southeast Asian nation in any winter sports—is our springboard to a potential gold in next year’s Winter Olympics,” ani Tolentino.
Miyembro ng men’s curling team sina Marc Pfister, Enrico Pfister, Alan Frei, Christian Haller at Benjo Delarmente.
Ginulantang ng Pinoy squad ang South Korea sa bendisyon ng 5-3 sa men’s curling finals upang masiguro ang gintong medalya noong Pebrero 14.
“That was the best-ever achievement by our country in a winter sports competition. So let’s give what’s due this team because before their historic success in Harbin, they’ve been competing under the Philippine flag at their own expense and without any support from our government,” wika pa ni Tolentino.
Nauna nang nagbigay ng cash incentives ang POC kung saan binigyan nito ng tig-$5,000 ang bawat miyembro ng koponan ilang araw matapos ang Asian Winter Games.
Base sa Republic Act 10699—on mas kilala sa Act Expanding the Coverage of Incentives Granted to National Athletes and Coaches— ang men’s curling team ay tatanggap ng P2 milyon cash incentive habang ang coach naman ay magkakaroon ng hiwalay na insentibo na 20 percent ng natanggap ng mga atleta.
