Bomb joke delays Cebu Pacific flight to Bohol
MANILA, Philippines — A Cebu Pacific flight from Manila to Bohol was disrupted upon landing at the Panglao International Airport yesterday after two passengers joked about having a bomb.
Bea Bernardo, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) information officer, said a flight attendant informed the pilots after overhearing the two saying, “there is a bomb in our luggage.”
The pilots requested for immediate clearance of the passenger cabin after alerting CAAP of the claim.
Members of the CAAP security and intelligence service declared the aircraft and all luggage free of explosives more than one hour after the flight was held at the tarmac.
The two passengers were placed under police custody.
Bernardo reminded the public that bomb jokes are a serious offense under Presidential Decree 1727. Violators may face imprisonment and fine of up to P40,000.
