2 foreigners rescued in Negros Oriental; 4 others missing

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Two of six foreigners who were reported missing on Wednesday following a trek in Negros Oriental were rescued yesterday morning.
In a post on social media, the provincial government said British national Alexander Radvanyi, 63, and Torsten Martin Groschupp, 58, of Germany were found by troopers of the Army’s 11th Infantry Battalion in the mountains of Barangay Blurry in Valencia town.
Authorities said the search is ongoing for the four other foreigners: Russian Anton Chernov, 38, a Canadian named Terry, 50, and Germans Aldwin Fink, 60, and Wolfgang, 67.
Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for the Negros Oriental police, said the group split up while headed for the village of Balinsasayao in Sibulan from Barangay Malabo in Valencia.
The foreigners failed to return home, prompting relatives to seek the help of authorities.
Three of the foreigners have families in Barangay East Balabag in Valencia.
Polinar said one of the foreigners is familiar with the trail and had gone to the area multiple times.
Grosschupp and Radvanyi were given medical attention.
Members of disaster risk reduction and management offices of San Jose, Sibulan and Valencia are coordinating with the local and provincial police as well as the Bureau of Fire and Protection in searching for the four foreigners.
