MANILA, Philippines — Malabon has officially set a new Guinness World Record and bested a Chinese city for the “Longest Line of Bowls of Noodles,” with 6,549 bowls of its iconic Pancit Malabon.

The record-breaking event, held at the Malabon Sports Center, showcased the city’s rich culinary heritage and the community’s unity.

Twelve local restaurant owners worked together to prepare thousands of bowls of the noodle dish, surpassing the previous record of 3,364 bowls set in Jinshi, Changde, Hunan, China in 2019.

“This is more than just a record – it’s a celebration of our culture, our food and the bayanihan spirit that defines Malabon,” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said during her speech after receiving the recognition.

“We wanted to put our city on the global culinary map and, today, we did just that,” she added.

The meticulous placement of the bowls of Pancit Malabon took nearly eight hours, ensuring that each serving met the strict guidelines set by Guinness World Records.

Each bowl contained 100 grams of noodles, topped with kalamansi, red oil, crushed kropek (fish crackers), tinapa flakes, ground pepper and fish sauce.

The official Guinness adjudicator, Sonia Ushirogochi, supervised the event, verifying each step before confirming the final count.
