MANILA, Philippines — Despite the scorching heat, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) vowed yesterday that its personnel would continue road-clearing operations.

Members of the agency’s Special Operations Group-Strike Force cleared some roads in Caloocan and Quezon cities on Thursday, the MMDA reported.

Covered by the operation were EDSA northbound, West Avenue, Baler Street and Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue in Quezon City as well as William Shaw, A. de Jesus and Josefina streets and the 2nd, 4th and 5th Avenues in Caloocan City.

The MMDA said 98 motorists were given violation tickets mostly for illegal parking.

From the apprehensions, 29 vehicles including motorcycles and private vehicles were towed and brought to the MMDA impounding area in Barangay Tumana, Marikina City.
