DepEd, LinkedIn partner to address education,workforce challenges

MANILA, Philippines — Skills required to work in the Philippine education sector have significantly changed since 2015, requiring significant upskilling programs for teachers and education workers, data from LinkedIn Philippines showed.
LinkedIn said skills required to work in the education sector has changed by 37.6 percent since 2015 due to technological advancements, with changes set to increase to 70 percent by 2030 because of artificial intelligence (AI).
“Filipino teachers must continuously upskill to keep up with the evolving landscape. Equipping educators with in-demand skills is crucial for their career resilience. It allows them to deliver a higher quality of classroom pedagogy, guiding job-ready graduates to build the skills needed in an AI-driven economy,” LinkedIn said during the launch of its new partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).
Under the partnership, DepEd and LinkedIn would deploy strategies to enhance the employability of Filipino teachers as well as provide opportunities for their upskilling.
The partnership will also enable DepEd to leverage LinkedIn’s platform to equip learners with job-ready skills.
