MANILA, Philippines —  Metro Manila residents can avail themselves of free medical consultation and medicines while doing marketing chores as the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) mounts today the “Konsulta sa masa palengke tour.”

Covered by the tour are Tangos Market in Navotas City, New Marulas Market in Valenzuela, Dagonoy Public Market in Sta. Ana, Manila, Mandaluyong Market 2, Poblacion Market in Caloocan and Langaray People’s Market in Malabon City.

Residents of these cities can seek consultation and other medical services, PhilHealth said.

Application for PhilHealth identification cards and printing of member data record or MDR will also be conducted during the market tour.

PhilHealth president Edwin Mercado recently met with leaders of the pharmaceutical industry to discuss the agency’s efforts to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for Filipinos.

To date, PhilHealth covers 53 outpatient medicines under the GAMOT or Guaranteed Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment program.

Mercado said the government is taking steps to expand the PhilHealth coverage for medicines.
