CEBU, Philippines — Cebuano race car driver Jarond Mesina embarks on a new challenge in his career under his own team - Dash Racing - in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup 2025 a week from now.

Primed and ready, the 22-year-old Mesina looks forward to a fresh start in his racing journey with much enthusiasm and a deep sense of optimism especially that he will we working together with noted pro race car driver Milo Rivera of Era Autosports.

“It’s more of a learning process for me. I want to have more experience and better hone my skills in the track,” said Mesina, who first polished his skills as a go-kart racer at Kartzone when he was only six years old. “I have to prove that what I did was a good decision. The pressure is there but it’s part of the game. It all depends on how I handle the pressure.”

Mesina’s manager Carlo Anton Suarez shares the same perspective.

“He wants to explore other areas. He wants personal growth as a racer,” said Suarez. “We’re very happy he’s now on his own team and works with a seasoned, experienced driver.”

“ There’s a lot of challenges ahead but it’s a challenge we have to take,” Suarez continued. “On the other side, it’s an advantage for us because we look at it as a fresh start.”

Mesina will face an acid test right away as he now competes in the tough super sporting class of the three-leg race series that will kick off on March 20-22 at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

“Beyond being an established young driver in the Vios Cup grid and in Cebu Motorsports, what impresses me with Jarond ever since is his joyous approach towards competition. And you see that joy through his overall demeanor around the paddock and behind the wheel - a great personality to integrate our team with,” Rivera shared.

“And now that he’s stepping into the premier super sporting class, I’m excited to see him carry his success from last season over to the “bigger leagues”. He 100% has what it takes to challenge for the top step, and now that he’s in a new team, our job is to give him the opportunity to do so every single time,” Rivera added.

Pressed on his ultimate mission, Mesina answered back quickly, “The goal is to win the championship.”

Suarez is highly confident about that given all their preparations.

“We have high expectations. He did his homework. He’s well prepared - physically, mentally, and spiritually. We want to bring pride and honor to Cebu,” Suarez assured. — (FREEMAN)
