Dog shot 5 times with dart arrows

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has condemned the act of cruelty done to a dog named Tiktok, which was shot five times using improvised dart arrows in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
PAWS executive director Ana Cabrera said the group is ready to help file charges against those who will be found responsible for the abuse of the animal.
“We have reached out to Bach Project PH, a non-government organization based in Bacolod City that rescued the dog. The perpetrator has yet to be found,” Cabrera said.
She said stray animals often fall victim to abuses and cruelty because no one owns them and they are unwanted in the community.
“The law protects all animals, owned or stray. Strays deserve kind treatment as an owned pet, and are protected under the Animal Welfare Act,” Cabrera said. “The person who did this will be charged as soon as we get information about his identity.”
Anonymous donors pledged cash reward for anyone who could identify the people who harmed Tiktok.
Sen. JV Ejercito and Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas also offered P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.
As of yesterday, the reward had reportedly increased to P65,000.
Rojas described the act as barbaric. He offered legal services to prosecute people behind the incident.
