Go underscores support for development in Central Luzon
Sen. Bong Go greets Pampanga Vice Gov. Lilia Pineda, who celebrated her birthday the other day as Gov. Dennis Pineda looks on.

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has reaffirmed his commitment to support progress in Central Luzon provinces, especially in terms of health care and infrastructure.

Speaking at the birthday celebration of Pampanga Vice Gov. Lilia Pineda in San Fernando City the other day, Go highlighted the role of local officials in preventing the spread of diseases and protecting the health of their constituents.

Go thanked Gov Dennis Pineda, Rep. Anna York Bondoc and former president and Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for trusting and supporting his programs.

He urged local officials to prioritize the provision of essential services. He said barangay leaders should be examples of cleanliness to prevent the spread of diseases in their communities.

As chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography, Go has been pushing for health care reforms, particularly in strengthening programs such as Malasakit Centers, Super Health Centers and Regional Specialty Centers.

He urged Pampanga residents to avail themselves of the medical and financial assistance being offered in Malasakit Centers at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital in San Fernando, Jose B. Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles and Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua.

Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program.

To date, there are 167 Malasakit Centers across the country that help poor patients pay their medical expenses.
