DJ’s boyfriend surrenders to NBI

MANILA, Philippines — The fiancé of disc jockey Jellie Aw surrendered to National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago late yesterday.
Santiago said Jam Ignacio, who was reported last week to have physically abused Aw inside a vehicle, surrendered and apologized for his actions.
Ignacio hopes to reconcile with Aw, Santiago said.
“He (Ignacio) suddenly arrived here at the NBI so I had to attend to him. I did not order his arrest because the incident happened sometime ago so a hot pursuit is no longer needed. Instead we will be filing a case,” Santiago said in Filipino.
The NBI chief said what Ignacio did was a public crime, adding that a complaint would be filed before the Department of Justice next week.
Aw has said she is determined to press charges against Ignacio.
“There will be no more wedding after what happened. Since the incident, I have already forgiven Jam, but I will still press charges against him,” Aw told reporters.
Aw filed charges against Ignacio on Feb. 14 after accusing her partner of abuse, which went viral on social media.
The physical abuse reportedly stemmed from jealousy.
