TNVS operators seek fare hike

MANILA, Philippines — Drivers and operators of Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) have filed a petition for a fare increase with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Laban TNVS president Jun de Leon said the group is seeking a base fare hike of P70 from P45, and an additional increase from P15 to P18 per kilometer.
De Leon cited rising fuel costs and operational expenses in their petition.
“This request is not excessive but rather necessary. The P45 base fare was set in 2022, but since then fuel prices have increased,” De Leon said.
He said many TNVS drivers are struggling to make a living under the current fare structure, which forces them to work up to 16 hours daily just to earn P1,200 to P1,500.
LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said they are open to reviewing the fare matrix for TNVS.
