P2 million shabu seized in Ilocos Norte

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Shabu with an estimated street value of P2 million was seized in a sting that also resulted in the arrest of a drug suspect in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte on Tuesday.
The suspect, a 31-year-old welder from nearby Dingras town, yielded three ice bags and three plastic sachets containing the illegal substance, according to the Ilocos Norte police Drug Enforcement Unit.
Brig. Gen. Lou Evangelista, Ilocos region police director, said the arrest of the suspect and seizure of shabu were the result of an intensified anti-drug effort being implemented by the police especially during the election period.
Earlier this week, Evangelista said two drug suspects were also arrested in Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, in Sulu, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raided a drug den and arrested its operator in Indanan town.
Reports said the suspect, identified as Alin, agreed to sell shabu to PDEA undercover agents, whom he brought to a tent in Barangay Kagay.
The PDEA team said they caught 10 people conducting a drug session in the tent.
