2 nabbed for attack on Army trooper

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Two men tagged in the shooting of an Army soldier were arrested in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Monday.
The suspects, identified as Joebert Gimarangan and Alfie Raganas, were captured 20 minutes after the shooting that occurred in Barangay Palampas.
Police said they seized from Gimarangan a loaded pistol, ammunition, gun holster, sling bag and P402 in cash.
Raganas allegedly yielded a grenade, pistol, shabu and dried marijuana leaves.
Probers are looking at a personal grudge as the motive for the attack that wounded Sgt. Alfort Tito, a member of the Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion (IB).
Tito suffered three gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to 1/Lt. Dan Carlo Somoza, chief of the 79IB civil-military operation.
