PAGASA expects cooler weather this week
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) yesterday said cooler temperature is expected this week as the northeast monsoon or amihan has strengthened anew.
Ana Clauren-Jorda, PAGASA weather specialist, said lower temperatures are affecting Northern Luzon and will expand to other parts of the country, including Metro Manila.
“This February, we expect a stronger amihan. It started to be felt in Northern Luzon but will also affect many areas, including Metro Manila, this week,” Clauren-Jorda said.
Yesterday, the temperature in Baguio City was at 17 degrees Celsius. In Metro Manila, the temperature ranged between 24 and 31 degrees.
Clauren-Jorda also said that the shear line would affect Northern Luzon, including Isabela and Aurora. “Rains will be experienced in these areas,” she said.
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will affect Palawan, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, she added.
Clauren-Jorda reminded residents in the areas affected by the ITCZ to “take precautionary measures amid the threat of possible flooding and landslide.”
