MANILA, Philippines — The temperature in Baguio City slid to as low as 14.6 degrees Celsius yesterday as the northeast monsoon or amihan continues to affect the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said Itbayat town in Batanes also enjoyed cooler temperature at 16.5 degrees.
Also included in the top 10 areas with the lowest temperatures yesterday were Malaybalay, Bukidnon (17 degrees); Calayan, Cagayan (17.4 degrees); Casiguran, Aurora (17.6 degrees); Abucay, Bataan (18.4 degrees); Tanay, Rizal (18.4 degrees); Coron, Palawan (19 degrees); Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (19.5 degrees) and Aparri, Cagayan (19.9 degrees).
The lowest temperature so far this year was recorded on Jan. 26 in La Trinidad, Benguet, at 9.4 degrees.
Meanwhile, the lowest temperature in Baguio City was recorded on Jan. 27 at 11.8 degrees.
PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said the northeast monsoon is expected to persist until the first week of March before the transition to the dry season.
