Village chief nabbed for drugs, gun

MANILA, Philippines — A barangay chairman was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation that also resulted in the seizure of a gun in Ilagan, Isabela on Saturday.
The suspect, identified only as Junior, 39, was collared after he sold an undetermined amount of shabu to undercover agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Aside from the illegal substance, PDEA agents seized from the suspect a handgun, phones, car and marked money.
Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, will be filed against the suspect, police said.
