MANILA, Philippines —Six senior high school students were injured after a bottle of ethanol leaked, causing an explosion in a Makati private school on Wednesday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)said the explosion occurred at Globe Tech Science Foundation Inc. along Saint Paul Road in Barangay San Antonio.

The students were examining bacteria in the presence of three instructors when the ethanol reportedly leaked.

Five of the victims have been discharged from a hospital, the BFP said.

The explosion caused a fire in the school’s laboratory, the BFP said.

Damage to property was estimated at P5,000.
