CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A manhunt has been launched for a former officer of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Calabarzon for alleged involvement in large-scale illegal recruitment activities.
Lt. Col. Caro Wilson, chief of the Calabarzon police intelligence division, and his men on Tuesday visited areas where the accused, identified as former senior fire officer Reyca Janisa, was last spotted.
The team went to Janisa’s former workplace in Calamba, Laguna and to her last known addresses in Quezon City and Malolos in Bulacan to serve an arrest warrant.
Judge Ronald August Tan of the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 297 issued the warrant against the suspect on Dec. 17, 2024. No bail was recommended for Janisa’s temporary liberty.
The suspect reportedly resigned from her post after receiving information that a warrant had been issued for her arrest.
Wilson said Janisa may have already left the country. He said probers are verifying information that Janisa left for the United Arab Emirates in October last year.
The accused allegedly used her position in the BFP to dupe her victims. She reportedly promised them work in government in exchange for money.
Aside from criminal cases, Wilson said Janisa is also facing administrative cases before the Office of the Ombudsman and the Professional Regulation Commission for misconduct.
Authorities urged the public to report any information leading to the arrest of Janisa.
