MANILA, Philippines — Baguio City recorded a temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius yesterday as the northeast monsoon or amihan continues to prevail in the country.
Meanwhile, the temperature in the nearby towns of Tuba and La Trinidad in Benguet dropped to 9.5 and 9.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Aside from areas in Benguet, the town of Itbayat in Batanes also experienced colder temperature at 15.6 degrees Celsius.
Other areas that recorded lower temperatures were Calayan in Cagayan with 18.4 degrees Celsius; Tanay in Rizal, 18.4; Sinait in Ilocos Sur, 18.7; Abucay in Bataan, 18.8; Casiguran in Aurora, 19.4; Malaybalay in Bukidnon, 19.5; Iba in Zambales, 19.7, and Tuguegarao in Cagayan with 20.2 degrees Celsius.
Metro Manila’s temperature ranged between 22 and 31 degrees Celsius.
PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said the monsoon is expected to persist until the first week of March.
State meteorologists said the shear line continued to affect Palawan and the Visayas while the easterlies are expected to prevail over Mindanao.
No low-pressure area and tropical cyclone have been monitored in and outside the Philippine area of responsibility, PAGASA said.
