MANILA, Philippines — The remains of a Filipina who was allegedly killed by her Slovenian husband arrived in Cebu on Monday.

The Philippine embassy in Vienna shipped the remains of Marvil Facturan-Kocjancic from Ljubljana on Jan. 24.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) coordinated with Marvil’s mother to receive the cadaver in her home town in Negros Oriental.

The victim was allegedly killed by her husband during a vacation in Slovenia on Dec. 29.

The DFA identified Marvil’s husband, Mitja, as the alleged suspect.

The couple reportedly engaged in a fight prior to the incident.

Marvil’s spouse is being held in a forensic prison in Slovenia for persons with mental illness.

“The Philippine government will continue to monitor the developments of the case to obtain justice for the victim and her family,” the embassy said.
