Scattered, isolated rains expected across Philippines
MANILA, Philippines — The shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” are expected to bring rains to parts of the country on Tuesday, January 28, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA.
In its latest weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that the shear line is likely to affect Palawan and the Visayas, while the northeast monsoon will influence weather conditions across the rest of Luzon.
The shear line is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to areas including Palawan, the Visayas, and Dinagat Islands. PAGASA has cautioned residents in these regions about potential flash floods or landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall.
Similarly, Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela may experience cloudy skies with rains caused by the northeast monsoon. PAGASA issued a similar warning for these areas regarding possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also attributed to the northeast monsoon.
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, is expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought about by easterlies. Residents in these areas were also advised of potential flash floods or landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall.
