MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has reminded schools to prioritize the safety of students and always ensure responsible planning when organizing large-scale events.

City hall issued the statement over the weekend following an activity organized by Bestlink College of the Philippines, which “caused traffic disruptions and raised safety concerns for the students.”

“Schools are reminded of their responsibility to exercise due diligence by ensuring meticulous planning and coordinating with local government units and other relevant authorities,” the local government said.

“Adherence to established safety protocols is non-negotiable and must be strictly observed to safeguard students and prevent undue inconvenience to the public,” it added.

The Commission on Higher Education has ordered Bestlink to explain why it allowed an off-campus activity at a resort in Hermosa, Bataan for around 1,000 students, some of whom had to walk for hours due to lack of transportation.

Bestlink has yet to issue a statement.
