MANILA, Philippines — Shabu weighing 16 kilos and valued at P108.8 million were seized after a sting in Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur yesterday.

Levi Ortiz, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Caraga regional director, said the contraband is one of the largest seized by the PDEA in the region.

In a statement, Ortiz said anti-narcotics agents negotiated with two men for the sale of two kilos of shabu in Barangay Sta. Irene. The two were arrested after receiving bundles of marked money.

The alleged shabu dealers, whom Ortiz did not identify, were charged for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

“This operation underscores the importance of multi-agency collaboration and community involvement in achieving impactful results in the campaign against illegal drugs,” Ortiz said.

Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man was arrested after he yielded shabu worth P340,000 in Kananga, Leyte on Sunday night.

Operatives of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group arrested the suspect, identified only as Rik, in a sting in Barangay Sto. Nino, said PDEG director Col. Rolando Cuya Jr.
