Fire engulfs car in NLEX

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan, Philippines — A car caught fire along the North Luzon Expressway in Bocaue town on Saturday.

Col. Satur Ediong, Bulacan police director, said the car was about to exit at Ciudad De Victoria in Barangay Igulot, Bocaue town when 73-year-old driver Alfonso Santiago noticed smoke from the hood.

Robin Ignacio, NLEX traffic operations head, said all three people in the car were safe as expressway patrol officers battled the flames with fire extinguishers until fire trucks arrive.

No traffic buildup was reported and the car was towed to the NLEX Pulilan Storage an hour after the incident.
