Resort worker killed in Cavite

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — What started as a happy get-together party for five resort employees ended in tragedy after one was killed and another wounded in a gun attack in Silang, Cavite on Saturday.

According to a report by the Silang town police, resort employees Dionisio Cabcaban and Emelinda Bacordo reprimanded three of their coworkers for swimming in the pool, instead of cleaning it for guests.

The three, identified only by the aliases Carlo, Jabbar and Rico, reportedly got irked and left the area. However, they returned armed with bolos and an M-16 rifle. Carlo reportedly shot Cabcaban while Jabbar and Rico attacked Bacordo with the bolos.

Cabcaban was rushed to the Tagaytay Medical Center where he was declared dead.

Responding police officers arrested Carlo and seized the rifle. Suspects Jabbar and Rico allegedly escaped on foot.
