114 nabbed in Metro Manila for illegal gambling
MANILA, Philippines — Over 100 people were arrested as the National Capital Region Police Office conducted an intensified crackdown on illegal gambling, the NCRPO reported yesterday.
Police said 114 people were nabbed in 54 anti-illegal gambling operations from 6 a.m. of Jan. 21 to 5:59 a.m. of Jan. 22.
Fifty-two of the violators were accosted in Manila, the NCRPO said.
Twenty-six violators were apprehended in southern Metro Manila, 18 in the Camanava area, 17 in eastern Metro Manila and one in Quezon City.
NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin said P28,064 in gambling money was seized.
“Our relentless campaign against illegal gambling underscores our dedication to creating safer and more secure communities for everyone,” Aberin said in a statement.
He warned members of gambling rings to stop their illegal activities or face arrest.
