Erwin Tulfo, Bong Go top bets for senators

In a poll conducted by Tangere from Jan. 8 to 11, ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo received a voter preference of 58 percent, down from 63 percent in the previous survey.

MANILA, Philippines — Despite a five percent drop in his voter preference score, ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo remains the leading senatorial bet in the May midterm elections.

In a poll conducted by Tangere from Jan. 8 to 11, Tulfo received a voter preference of 58 percent, down from 63 percent in the previous survey.

He received lower voter preference among the age group 18 to 25 and 51 years old and above.

In second place is Sen. Bong Go with a 51 percent voter preference, driven by voters in Mindanao and respondents aged 36 to 50.

Erwin’s brother, Ben Tulfo, is ranked second to fourth at 49.5 percent. Former senator Tito Sotto ranked third to fourth at 48 percent.

Statistically tied at fifth to sixth places are former senator Manny Pacquiao at 45 percent and Sen. Pia Cayetano at 43.17 percent.

Four candidates are statistically tied at seventh to 10th place: Benhur Abalos Jr. at 36 percent, followed by Sen. Bong Revilla Jr. at 35.5 percent. Sen. Francis Tolentino got a 34.5 percent voter preference while Sen. Lito Lapid registered at 34.21 percent.

Six candidates are statistically tied for 11th to 15th place. They are former senator Panfilo Lacson (32 percent), Sen. Imee Marcos (31.67 percent), Makati Mayor Abby Binay (31.5 percent), Sen. Ronald dela Rosa (31 percent), former senator Francis Pangilinan (30.71 percent) and former senator Bam Aquino (30.58 percent).

The survey was administered through a mobile-based app, with a sample size of 2,400 participants.

The distribution of respondents are 12 percent from Metro Manila, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from the Visayas and 23 percent from Mindanao.
