2 caskets fall onto NLEX, stall traffic

Ramon Efren Lazaro - The Philippine Star

PULILAN, Bulacan, Philippines — Traffic slowed down along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) after two caskets fell from a delivery van near the Pulilan exit on Tuesday night.

Robin Ignacio, chief of the NLEX traffic operations, said the van was traveling along the southbound lane of the Candaba 3rd Viaduct when the incident occurred at past 7 p.m.

Motorists were compelled to slow down when they spotted the caskets lying along the road.

A sport utility vehicle (SUV) trailing the delivery van was damaged after it was hit by one of the caskets.

It took a while for the van driver to notice that his cargo had fallen. He returned to retrieve the caskets.

The van and SUV drivers reportedly settled amicably the damage caused by the caskets to the latter’s vehicle.

The caskets reportedly came from Pampanga and were supposed to be delivered to Marikina.
