Cop accused of raping girl in General Santos

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A 17-year-old female student has accused a policeman of raping her inside a police bunkhouse in General Santos City before Thursday dawn.

In several radio reports yesterday, the girl told police officers that her abuser is a master sergeant assigned at the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the General Santos City Police Office.

She alleged that she and her friends were going home from Barangay Bula when the suspect offered to drive her home. However, the suspect allegedly brought her to a police bunkhouse where she was raped.

Senior officials of the Police Regional Office-12 were quoted in the radio reports as saying that the policeman has been held for interrogation.

Col. Nicomedes Olaivar, General Santos City police director, told reporters yesterday that investigators continue with their probe.
