86,371 migrant workers receive help from OFW Hospital
MANILA, Philippines — Up to 86,371 overseas Filipino workers and their families were assisted by the OFW Hospital in San Fernando City in Pampanga last year.
Of the beneficiaries, 41,282 and 523 were treated as out and in patients, respectiely, while 2,711 received urgent medical care, according to Ralph Julius Mendoza, chief of the OFW Hospital.
Mendoza said up to 41,855 patients availed themselves of various medical assistance, including radiology, respiratory, cardiology and laboratory services.
The OFW Hospital operates its own pharmacy complete with medicine and equipment needed by patients.
The hospital is PhilHealth-accredited and has a Level 1 Specialty Hospital license.
The health facility offers pre-employment medical examination packages for departing OFWs and medical repatriation programs for those who have been deployed.
Inaugurated in 2022, the OFW Hospital is the first and only medical institution in the Philippines that provides comprehensive medical services to OFWs and their dependents.
The facility is planning to upgrade its 50-bed capacity into a premier tertiary center that offers diagnostic and therapeutic services specially designed for migrant workers.
