Fallen tree kills preacher

COTABATO CITY , Philippines — A Muslim preacher died after a tree toppled by strong winds pinned his house in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur on Tuesday.

Authorities said Ustadz Abdulbayan Bantao died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Buayan.

A team of emergency responders pulled Bantao’s remains from under the rubble consisting of lumber, galvanized iron roofing and tree branches.

The team had to use a chainsaw to cut the tree into pieces and recover the victim, who was immediately buried by his family.
