Suspect in slay of Pinay in Slovenia under custody

MANILA, Philippines — The suspect in the killing of Filipina Marvil Facturan in Slovenia is under the custody of the authorities, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported yesterday.

The DFA condemned the incident and extended its condolences to Facturan’s family.

“The Philippine embassy in Vienna is in communication with the mother of the victim,” the DFA said in a statement.

Facturan was allegedly killed by her Slovenian husband on Dec. 29 last year.

The DFA identified the suspect only as Mitja.

The couple had a fight before the incident, according to the DFA.

The Philippine embassy is working on repatriating the remains of Facturan using DFA funds.

The department vowed to obtain justice for Facturan.
