MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has warned aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) against the illegal operations of “airport escorts” who offer speedy processing of immigration papers to work abroad.

“Beware of such scheme in exchange for huge amount of cash,” the DMW posted on social media.

Reacting to the DMW advisory, some netizens said they have been offered such services in exchange for a processing fee of up to P200,000.

The DMW advised those applying for work abroad not to deal with unauthorized people and agencies to avoid becoming victims of illegal recruitment, human trafficking and online scams.

The agency urged overseas job applicants to report scammers to authorities.
