Vietnamese ‘beauty doctor’ nabbed
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a Vietnamese national in Mandaluyong City for allegedly practicing medicine without a license, the NBI announced yesterday.
Trinh Thi Kieu Nguyen, also known as “Dr. Rosa,” was apprehended by NBI agents following a tip from a confidential informant.
Nguyen allegedly performed medical procedures at JK Beauty Clinic in Mandaluyong.
An investigation showed that Nguyen has been offering procedures such as eyelid surgery, vaginal tightening, Botox injections and other cosmetic treatments for a fee.
Posing as a customer, the NBI informant booked an appointment for a Botox procedure.
On the day of the surgery, the client, accompanied by an NBI agent, visited the clinic for Botox and nanofiller procedures, each priced at P8,000.
After paying P16,000 and just as the procedure was about to begin, the NBI informant signaled NBI operatives, leading to Nguyen’s arrest.
Authorities recovered the marked money and various medical paraphernalia during the operation.
Nguyen underwent inquest proceedings on Jan. 9 at the Mandaluyong prosecutor’s office for violating Section 10 in relation to Section 28 of Republic Act 2382 or the Medical Act of 1959.
