Farmer drowns in Pangasinan

URDANETA, Pangasinan, Philippines — A farmer suffering from epilepsy drowned in a rice field in this city on Friday.

Redante Marquez, 42, was last seen preparing his farm for the planting season in Barangay Camanang.

Witnesses said they saw Marquez lying face down in the farm, prompting them to call for help.

Marquez was declared dead on arrival at the Urdaneta District Hospital. His partner told authorities that he had been suffering from epilepsy.

Authorities expressed belief that Marquez might have suffered seizures while working and fell into the farm which was filled with water.a
