MANILA, Philippines — The alleged mastermind in the kidnap-slay of a 62-year-old businessman from Quezon City was arrested on Friday.

Col. Melecio Buslig Jr., Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said suspect Victor Duenas was supposed to meet with his cohorts Noli Cape and Mervin Armas, who were arrested during a manhunt on Wednesday, and pay for their participation in the victim’s killing.

Duenas, also known as James Paul Dwight, was collared by QCPD operatives in front of a fast-food restaurant in Barangay Wack-Wack, Mandaluyong City.

“Let this serve as a warning to criminals, the QCPD will not stop working until justice prevails. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our communities,” Buslig said in a statement.

In a Facebook post, actress Rochelle Barrameda said Duenas is also known as Lope Jimenez – the principal suspect in the murder of her sister, Ruby Rose, in 2007.

“He was hiding from the law for almost 16 years. Thanks God for hearing our prayers. Finally, Lope Jimenez, aka Victor Vidal Duenas and James Paul Dwight, is arrested,” her post, written in Filipino, reads.
