MANILA, Philippines — Two men who were among the six suspects in the kidnapping and killing of a businessman from Quezon City were arrested Wednesday night.
The victim’s body, covered in sacks and in handcuffs, was found buried in San Jose del Monte in Bulacan.
The suspects, whose names are being withheld, were apprehended by police during a manhunt along Quirino Highway in Barangay 183, Caloocan City.
Seized from their possession were a 22. caliber handgun, a grenade and several cell phones.
Investigation revealed that the victim left his house on Jan. 5 for a business transaction, but failed to return home. His relatives, who found that cash had been withdrawn from his bank account, immediately sought police assistance.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted they buried the victim’s body in a vacant lot in Barangay Minuyan Proper.
There were signs the victim was strangled based on a ligature mark on his neck. His corpse was brought to a funeral parlor for autopsy.
