2 dead in Calabarzon gun attacks

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A man and a woman were killed in separate gun attacks in Batangas and Laguna on Thursday.

The woman, identified only as Jessa, was found lying along the road in Nasugbu, Batangas by a village official and his son at around 4 a.m.

The woman, who was said to be a pharmacy worker, bore a gunshot wound in the head.

Relatives said the victim was last seen leaving her house to meet someone in a nearby village.

Residents said they heard a gunshot coming from the area where the victim was found.

Meanwhile, in Laguna, a man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Sta. Rosa City on Thursday night.

Edwin Magsino, 53, a known cockfighting enthusiast, was found dead inside a car parked along the road in Barangay Tagapo.

Witnesses said they last saw Magsino leaving the Sta. Rosa Coliseum following a cockfighting derby.

Investigation is ongoing.
