MANILA, Philippines — Actress Rufa Mae Quinto yesterday surrendered to authorities following allegations of securities fraud.

Quinto returned to the Philippines from San Francisco, California after a Pasay court issued a warrant for her arrest over 14 counts of alleged violations of the Securities Regulation Code.

Accompanied by her family, the actress and comedian turned herself in to the National Bureau of Investigation.

The case stemmed from complaints filed by investors of skincare company Dermacare, which has been linked to an alleged investment scam.

Quinto posted bail after addressing charges of unauthorized sale or distribution of securities.

The actress earlier denied her involvement in fraud, saying she was also a victim of the alleged scam.

In November last year, actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig was charged with fraud due to her alleged involvement in Dermacare   –  Rudy Santos
