One Meralco powers low-income homes in Parañaque
MANILA, Philippines — One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the social development arm of power distributor Manila Electric Co., has energized some 100 low-income households in San Isidro village in Parañaque City.
Through its flagship household electrification program, OMF empowers beneficiaries by equipping them with their own metering centers and individual service entrances.
This initiative allows households in the city to access safe electricity, supporting OMF’s mission to boost productivity at home and enhance overall living standards.
“Gaining access to proper electric service sparks positive impact in communities,” OMF president and Meralco chief corporate social responsibility officer Jeffrey Tarayao said.
“By energizing homes like those in Silverio Compound, we empower more Filipinos and drive productivity to benefit their families. This also directly contributes to the overall progress, not just of the immediate community but of the country,” he said.
Speaking at the community turnover ceremony, Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez highlighted the importance of this partnership between the local government and Meralco for underserved communities.
“Light is very important because without it, it would be challenging for us to live in the dark. Light, as in any community, is essential here in Silverio Compound,” Olivarez said.
With the support of Meralco business centers and sectors, OMF’s electrification program has powered more than 76,000 low-income homes within the Meralco franchise area.
