3 killed, 1 injured in road mishaps in Pangasinan
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — Three people were killed and one was injured in separate accidents in three towns the other night, according to reports reaching the Pangasinan police provincial office yesterday.
Reports identified two fatalities as Gibby Sison, 28, of Barangay Cabaruan, Mangatarem and Gabriel Ballesteros, 75, of Barangay Maningding, Sta. Barbara. The third fatality in Rosales remained unidentified.
Carlito Mencias, 52, of Villasis town was injured.
Police said Sison was riding a motorcycle southbound along Romulo Highway in Barangay Bueno, Mangatarem at past 7 p.m. last Monday when he lost his balance and encroached the lane of the dump truck driven by Jerico de Guzman of San Jacinto town.
Reports said De Guzman tried to avoid the collision, but failed, causing Sison to go under the truck and suffer serious head injury.
Sison was rushed to the Mangatarem District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. De Guzman was unharmed.
Meanwhile, Ballesteros was crossing the road when he was hit by Mencias, who was riding on a motorcycle.
Both Ballesteros and Mencias sustained injuries and were rushed to Region 1 Medical Center for treatment.
Ballesteros, however, died while undergoing treatment.
