CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Philippines — A man who stole a motorcycle from a woman was killed in an alleged shootout in this city yesterday morning.

The suspect was driving the stolen motorcycle when he was cornered by pursuing police officers at past 5 a.m. in Barangay Sumacab Este, according to Col. Ferdinand Germinos, Nueva Ecija police director.

The suspect lost control of the wheel, causing the motorcycle to crash into the highway.

Instead of surrendering, the suspect reportedly drew a gun and shot at the officers, triggering a shootout that resulted in his death.
